7% of the profit on every product sold goes to Nepal

The donation is calculated separately for each product: 7% of the portion of the product price remaining after production and sourcing costs. The amount is directed to Nepal through Women’s Bank’s grassroots education work, Kaiko’s own Nepal initiatives, and our local team. Together with our customers, we have already directed 163 102 € to Nepal.

Where our products are made

We want you to know where your clothes come from and who made them. We choose manufacturers for long-term partnership, not the lowest price.

Portugal

Black Moda Portugal produces most of our jersey and interlock products. Soeiro Centro Textil produces our woven garments and some of our interlock products. ALEC Garments produces our ribbed garments.

Lithuania, Nepal, Finland

Garlita produces most of our knitwear. Aroma Beads creates our handmade jewelry in Kathmandu. The Kathmandu-based family business Posh Pashmina produces the Wool Wrap Cardigan. Osk Ompeluliike Sopiva produces our scarves.

Living wage

We monitor the wages paid by our manufacturers through surveys. In the EU, wages are based on statutory employment terms. In Nepal, our benchmark is the World Fair Trade Organization model, where a living wage is calculated according to the cost of living in Kathmandu.

Our jewellery employs over 40 Nepalese women

Every piece of Kaiko jewelry is handcrafted, creating fair jobs and securing the livelihoods of over 40 women in Nepal. A piece of Kaiko jewelry is more than just an accessory—it is a choice that drives change.

Materials and quality

We choose every material based on how it holds up to wear and washing and what its environmental impact is. Most of our clothes are made from organic cotton or ECOVERO™ viscose.

Organic cotton

Our jersey, sweatshirt and woven pieces are mainly organic cotton. Our muslin pieces use GOTS-certified organic cotton, and many of our jersey pieces are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. The T-shirt is made from dense 260 g/m² organic cotton interlock, and our cotton knits are 100% organic cotton with no synthetic fibres.

ECOVERO™ viscose

ECOVERO™ viscose is made from wood from certified sources, and its production has up to 50% lower emissions and water impact than generic viscose. We use it in our flowing woven pieces, soft jersey and dense 380 g/m² rib knit.

Mohair, alpaca and wool

The kid mohair in our Alpaca Mohair knits is RMS certified (Responsible Mohair Standard) and comes from South Africa, and the superfine alpaca from Peru. The yarns are spun in Italy and the knits are made in Lithuania. The Wool Wrap Cardigan is fine wool and cashmere, knitted in Nepal.

Jewelry

Our jewellery is handmade in Nepal from brass, silver, natural stones, pearls and glass beads. All metal parts are nickel-free.

Cost per wear €0.42

Everyday Pants cost per wear when you wear them once a week for five years.

The most responsible garment is the one you wear for years. That’s why on each product page we show the garment’s cost per wear - the cost of one wear when you wear it once a week for five years. If your garment needs repair, you can use the Menddie repair service, and on the 2nd Hand page you’ll find options for reselling pre-owned Kaiko pieces.
